Our region

Killarney is close to the western side of the Great Dividing Range in Southern Queensland. The town is surrounded by diverse landscapes randing from highland rain- forest, woodlands and farmland.

The Condamine River flows from the East through the cliffs of the Cambanoora Gorge and Killarney itself, before making its way on the long journey to ultimately join the Murray-Darling system.

These diverse habitats support a wide range and number of plants and animals, includ- ing over 190 species of birds. Many of these species are listed as rare and vulnerable, such as the Albert’s Lyrebird, with its restricted range.
